Torbreck’s The Struie brings together fruit from two iconic South Australian regions—Barossa Valley and Eden Valley—showcasing the contrast between Barossa’s power and Eden Valley’s cooler, more aromatic character. It reflects Torbreck’s Rhône-inspired, old-vine philosophy.

Rich yet balanced, it combines blackberry, plum, pepper and spice with fine tannins and fresh lift—an impressive but approachable Shiraz for steak, roast lamb, barbecue or a relaxed dinner.

Tasting Notes

Torbreck The Struie Shiraz 2020 brings together premium fruit from two iconic South Australian regions, the Barossa Valley and Eden Valley. The blend captures the Barossa’s generous power alongside the cooler, more aromatic character of Eden Valley, creating a distinctive and harmonious expression of Australian Shiraz.

True to Torbreck’s Rhône-inspired, old-vine philosophy, this rich yet balanced red wine offers generous flavours of ripe blackberry and plum, layered with pepper, spice and subtle savoury complexity. Fine tannins provide structure, while fresh acidity brings lift, balance and impressive length to the finish.

Approachable now yet full of depth, Torbreck The Struie Shiraz 2020 is a refined choice for steak, roast lamb, barbecue and relaxed dinner occasions. Sourced from a premium private cellar, it showcases the complementary character of Barossa Valley and Eden Valley fruit in a beautifully composed premium Australian Shiraz.

Critic Scores

The Struie blends both Barossa and Eden Valley fruit for a rich, high-octane Shiraz destined for the cellar. There's a nose-full of plump plum and blackberry and savory, earthy spices (think ground pepper, bay leaf and mocha), with an underbelly of violets and charred-root vegetable. The palate is plush yet structured, with a touch of alcohol heat showing. Spicy, granular tannins are mighty and muscular, framing the glossy fruit. Drink 2025—2045.

About this Wine

Shiraz

Bold and full-bodied, Shiraz delivers rich dark fruit flavours of blackberry, plum, and black cherry, layered with black pepper, clove, and subtle smoke. Firm tannins and a velvety texture give it real structure, often rounded out by notes of chocolate and vanilla from oak ageing. A versatile pairing partner for grilled meats and hearty dishes, it's one of Australia's most planted red varieties

South Australia

If you like Australian wine, then you probably like South Australia wine. The rich reds produced there put Australia on the wine-making map of the world. With over 40% of the countries vineyards, South Australia can rightfully call itself the wine state.

Wines are produced in several regions throughout the state, though many are naturally grouped together, like Barossa and Eden Valleys, only 15 minutes apart. They include such regions as Barossa Valley, Clare Valley, Eden Valley, Coonawarra, Adelaide Hills, Kangaroo Island, Langhorne Creek, The Limestone Coast, McLaren Vale and Wrattonbully to name but a few!

Barossa Valley boasts some of the oldest vines in Australia dating back to 1843 and produces some of the world's finest Shiraz, whilst the 'terra rossa' soils of Coonawarra is most suited to producing outstanding Cabernet Sauvignons. If you're a fan of Riesling, Clare Valley is a great place to explore and for a Maritime climate not dissimilar to parts of the Italian coastline, seek out the wines from McLaren Vale.
