Toschi Lemoncello is produced by macerating lemon peel in a neutral alcohol base, following the traditional limoncello method in which the aromatic oils and flavour compounds of the citrus rind are extracted into spirit rather than the acidic juice. Toschi's formulation is described as free from artificial colourings and preservatives — producing a liqueur that represents a natural lemon infusion rather than a flavoured or coloured imitation. The resulting liqueur is sweetened, diluted to 28% ABV, and bottled in the standard 700mL format. The fresh, clean lemon character and vibrant yellow colour are derived entirely from the macerated citrus peel and not from added colouring.

Toschi was founded in 1945 in Vignola, in the Modena province of Emilia-Romagna, northern Italy, by brothers Giancarlo and Lanfranco Toschi. The company began by preserving the celebrated Vignola cherries in alcohol to extend their season, and grew from that foundation into one of Italy's leading producers of fruit liqueurs, preserves, and confectionery. The Toschi Lemoncello was developed as part of the brand's tradition of fruit infusion liqueurs — applying the same commitment to natural ingredients and traditional recipes to the lemon liqueur style that Toschi had established in its cherry and berry products. The company exports globally and produces across a new plant in Savignano sul Panaro.
