Vietti Ravera Barolo 2015
Tasting Notes
Vietti, a family-run estate in Castiglione Falletto, is renowned for its commitment to traditional winemaking practices and the expression of unique terroirs. The winery emphasises meticulous vineyard management and minimal intervention in the cellar to produce wines of elegance and complexity.
The Ravera vineyard, located in the commune of Novello, is characterised by its calcareous marl soils and elevated position, ranging from 320 to 400 metres above sea level. This site is one of the most celebrated in the area, known for producing Nebbiolo of great structure and aromatic finesse. In 2015, the grapes were hand-harvested and underwent fermentation in stainless steel tanks, followed by ageing for 32 months in large Slavonian oak casks.
The 2015 Barolo Ravera shows a deep garnet colour and an expansive aromatic profile of red berries, rose petals, liquorice, and crushed stone. On the palate, it is powerful and focused, with flavours of pomegranate, black cherry, and savoury spice. The tannins are firm yet polished, supported by fresh acidity and a long, mineral-inflected finish. This is a Barolo of great energy and depth, with the structure to evolve gracefully over the next two decades.
