Vignerons Schmolzer and Brown Pret A Blanc 2023

Vignerons Schmolzer and Brown Pret A Blanc 2023 is a dry white wine from the King Valley region of Victoria, Australia. It is a blend of four grape varieties: Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, and Sylvaner.

This wine sees us continue our exploration of the Gemischter Satz style of dry, refreshing white blends originally grown and made around Vienna in Austria. The Austrian style typically contains as many as ten or eleven varieties as a field blend, which is intended to mitigate viticultural risk. This little cool breeze boasts a mere four: Pinot gris, Sauvignon blanc, Sylvaner and Riesling and is from several upper King Valley sites. However insofar as it’s utterly refreshing, crisp and brightly fruited, we hope we’ve respected the traditional style admirably. We hope also that you’ll find yourself with a chilled bottle of this and a bucket of prawns to peel on a sunny weekend day very soon.

It’s a clean slosh of green apple, pod peas, soft florals and grassy herbage, with a zingy and crisp palate.
