Wolfburn Northland is a lightly peated single malt from Wolfburn Distillery in Caithness, matured in ex-bourbon quarter casks — the smaller cask format that accelerates maturation by increasing the ratio of wood surface area to spirit volume. Named after the wild, wind-swept northlands of Caithness that surround the distillery, Northland carries a gentle smokiness from the use of lightly peated barley, layered over a foundation of vanilla, cereal sweetness, and gentle fruit from the bourbon quarter cask maturation. The expression reflects Wolfburn's house style of clean, expressive spirit that captures the character of its remote Caithness location. Bottled at 46% ABV without chill-filtration in a 700mL format.

Wolfburn Distillery is located just west of Thurso in Caithness — the northernmost point of mainland Scotland — making it the most northerly mainland whisky distillery in Scotland. The original Wolfburn Distillery was founded by William Smith in 1821 and named after the local burn, or stream, from which it drew its water. Tax records from 1826 show it produced 125,000 litres annually, making it the largest distillery in Caithness at the time. The distillery fell silent in the 1860s and stood as a ruin for nearly 150 years. A new distillery of the same name was established on the same site, with the ground broken in August 2012 and distillation recommencing on 25 January 2013.
