Description
Yeringberg Chardonnay is a single vineyard wine made from vines planted in 1974 & 1981. A low yielding, high quality vintage producing excellent, intense wines in small quantities. Picked on March 4, bottled in Feb 2023. In exceptional condition, the handpicked grapes were carefully sorted, crushed and pressed. The juice was settled overnight in a tank, then racked to barrels. The barrels were French oak hogsheads 25% new and the remainder older. Malolactic fermentation occurred in the new barrel during the winter and spring. The wine remained on its yeast lees and was stirred weekly until July and then fortnightly until November. Our 2022 Chardonnay has that extra element of precision, power and drive that the very best seasons bring to the fore. Restrained aromas of nectarine, citrus blossom and flint evolve into richer notes of white peach, honey and roasted nuts. There’s generosity and a touch of richness within a poised, powerful and complex palate.
