    • Description

Sourced solely from the Hoffmann’s vineyards in Ebenezer, Callum Powell isn’t joking around with his fruit sources for his young Agricola label. The Hoffman family have been farming their land since the 1850’s, and their fruit is some of the most prized in the Barossa, supplying a bevy of cult producers in the region.

This wine has classic regional character; powerful, dense and full of intensity, yet showcases a lighter, lower alcohol side of the Barossa, and still, with a powerful tannic structure.

With a fine acid-line, brightness and energy, alongside classic Ebenezer boldness and black fruit, this is a gun Shiraz for the modern consumer.

    Agricola

The Powell name has become synonymous with the Barossa over the past 20+ Years.

First at Torbreck, where Dave helped grow them into the powerhouse they are today, then with Powell & Son, where he and son Callum joined forces, again, quickly gaining international attention.

Yet here we are, with Callum now forging his own path with Agricola. Sourcing fruit from his family's vineyards as well as the famous Hoffmann sites, Callum is quickly stepping out of his father’s shadow.

Producing wines very much in a lo-fi way, Callum aims to express a more contemporary vision of the Barossa/Eden, with light and lithe wines that are pure, unadulterated, and without the heavy oak influence that the region is known for.
