David Hirsch was inspired to create the Bohan-Dillon Pinot Noir as an homage to the great village wines of France

Outstanding California Pinot Noir

It is incredibly drinkable now. However it does have the acidity and structure to age, if you wish to lay it down.

    • Description

David Hirsch was inspired to create the Bohan-Dillon Pinot Noir as an homage to the great village wines of France: a wine full of place and personality, made with the same care and attention as the top wines, yet at a good price.

The Hirsch Vineyards Bohan-Dillon Pinot Noir is produced using the same winemaking methods and with the same attention to detail as our other Pinots, thereby ensuring a wine of great quality, traditional varietal character, and sense of place.

The 2021 Bohan-Dillon is made from three West Sonoma Coast vineyards: Hirsch and Hellenthal, situated contiguous to each other, and the Heintz Ranch. This is the first vintage of Bohan-Dillon to include fruit from Heintz, which we selected due to its storied reputation and our faith in Charlie Heintz, a third generation West County farmer. The Heintz Ranch is located about 20 miles south of Hirsch, just east of the town of Occidental. All three of these vineyards produce wines of character and personality, and together they result in a wine of great integrity and complexity.

TASTING NOTES The 2021 Bohan-Dillon is remarkably expressive upon opening. Notes of crushed strawberries, Santa Rosa plum, thyme, violets and sage jump out of the glass. The palate is juicy and mouth-filling, with tremendous energy and freshness.

    Hirsch

Hirsch Vineyard is recognized as one of the premier sites for pinot noir in the new world. David Hirsch planted his vineyard overlooking the Pacific Ocean in 1980, making it the oldest premium pinot vineyard on the True Sonoma Coast. Since then it has become one of the most sought-after sources for pinot noir grapes in California, providing fruit to Littorai, Williams Selyem, Kistler and many others. In 2002, Hirsch began producing its own estate pinot noirs and chardonnays from this complex, cool-weather site. These are wines of balance, concentration, complexity and site-specificity. After 37 years on the extreme Sonoma Coast, we decided it was time to bring our wines a bit closer to civilization. For the first time, we’re delighted to offer you the opportunity to taste our wines without having to drive out to the remote Sonoma Coast. At the Hirsch Tasting Room, visitors will experience the True Sonoma Coast and the story of Hirsch Vineyards, through the lens of our wines. Choose between a private tasting, or our Family Table Tasting for a communal tasting experience. Open by appointment only.
