Tasting Notes

Seafood and salads will be infinitely better this summer with a glass of this fantastic dry white. We're very confident that there is no better dry white wine available in Australia anywhere near this price. The nose shows ripe apple and pear aromas with soft floral notes while the palate is fresh and crisp with minerality and apple-citrus flavours.

The juice was cool fermented in stainless steel with aromatic yeast strains, with a small portion on skins to add zest. Aged further for three months on yeast lees to add layers of flavour. The wine was bottled early to preserve the primary fruit characters and freshness.

Vineyard Cultivation

BTW is a value-focused label bottling Pinot Grigio from the Murray Darling region straddling the Victoria-New South Wales border. This warm, irrigated inland zone along the Murray River is one of Australia's most productive, its sandy loam soils and reliable sunshine yielding ripe, generously flavoured fruit at accessible prices. As a non-vintage dry white, the wine is built for consistency across seasons, blending parcels to a house style rather than expressing a single year. Grapes are grown for clean citrus and pear character with retained acidity, harvested to preserve freshness in a crisp, easy-drinking style suited to seafood and salads.

Vinification

The juice was cool-fermented in stainless steel using aromatic yeast strains to protect and lift the citrus and pear aromatics, with a small portion fermented on skins to add texture and zest. After fermentation the wine rested on yeast lees for around three months to build additional flavour and mouthfeel. It was bottled early to lock in the primary fruit characters and freshness, giving a pale, crisp, mineral-edged dry white with lemon, lime and apple-pear flavours and a clean finish.

About this Wine

Pinot Grigio

A white grape known for its light body and crisp, neutral character, particularly popular from northern Italy.

Victoria

The wine region of Victoria has the highest number of grape vines than any other state in Australia. It is home to over 600 wineries and well known regions such as Yarra valley, Heathcote, and Rutherglen. Victoria is situated in the southeastern corner of Australia where due to the location, the climate has a cool maritime influence and is known for their outstanding Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, along with producing Australia’s most famed dessert Muscat and Topaque wines.

There are a number of different terroir levels throughout the wine region of Victoria which leads to the production of different ranges of wines. In the southern region of Victoria, the vines are regulated by the cool winds of the Bass Strait. Central Victoria consists of mostly flat terrain that tends to be drier and warmer than the rest of Victoria, which results in more fruit concentrated wines. It may be surprising to note that Victoria is the third most productive wine region in Australia, seeing as it does not have as many areas suitable for viticulture, which has resulted in the cellar door culture of Victoria being concentrated with smaller, but more personal boutique wineries.
